Sunali Lewis

Sunali is a caring and empathic clinical psychologist who seeks to understand each client’s unique situation, and then in collaboration identify suitable strategies to assist. She is passionate about berries, and has passed down this same passion to her children. Or, one of them at least. Despite this passion however, she fails to understand that aside from blueberries, none of the berries she feeds her children are real berries.

Sunali completed her Bachelor of Science (Psychology) with honours at UNSW, then spent many years as a finance analyst before her desire to help people brought her back to her first love, psychology. She subsequently completed a Master of Brain and Mind science from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Clinical Psychology from the Australian College of Applied Psychology. She also returns periodically to her second and third loves, namely the keto diet and Fernando.

Sunali has run psychiatric inpatient and external groups on a range of topics and facilitated mindfulness and social anxiety programs including the Cool Kids “Chilled” program for adolescent anxiety, and a Hearing Voices group based on the program by Debra Lampshire. And yet when her conscience calls her on Zoom, she fails to respond.

In her therapy, Sunali has training in and uses techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and polyvagal and somatic therapies. For PTSD and trauma related issues she may supplement this with EMDR, imagery rescripting, or cognitive processing therapy approaches as applicable.

Sunali is experienced in working with gender diversity and is LGBTIQA+, and sex worker friendly.
